Cold today but warmer days ahead

After a very mild, windy Saturday, we’ll see a much colder, calmer Sunday. The clouds will be very slow to move out, though, so expect mostly cloudy skies to stick with us. Highs will struggle to get near 40. Tonight, temps will fall quickly into the 20s with clearing skies. By Monday morning some folks on the plateau will see readings in the upper teens.

A warming trend gets underway Monday, with highs getting back into the lower 50s. That warming trend will continue Tuesday ahead of our next front. That front will pass through late Tuesday night and drop highs for the rest of the week back into the 40s. Highs may reach back into the 50s by next Saturday.

As for precip, there just doesn’t look to be any for the next week to ten days. Models have continued to trend drier. Tuesday night’s frontal passage just doesn’t have any moisture to work with and the disturbance that we’d hoped would bring flurries on Thanksgiving has all but dried up in the model data. So, we couldn’t ask for better weather for traveling and for preparing for the big Turkey Day!

You may have seen the severe t-storm watch issued yesterday evening for West and Middle TN.  There were several reports of minor wind damage, but nothing too serious. As I said last week, we got lucky with this one. It certainly could have been much worse but we just had a couple missing ingredients. We can never forget that severe weather is always possible throughout the year, but December-February are typically our quietest months for such activity.

You have a wonderful Sunday and I’ll be updating that Thanksgiving forecast throughout the week, though I don’t foresee any major changes.
