The rain is on the way!

The first half of today will be cloudy, with the possibility of an isolated shower. The rain chances really start to rise this evening and that rain will become heavy at times overnight. A flash flood watch goes into effect at noon today, but the gist of that rain won’t arrive here on the plateau until after dark. Rain will continue, heavy at times, through the morning on Saturday. Isolated thunderstorms are also likely, but they should stay below severe limits. Winds will pick up overnight and through the day on Saturday, as well, so be aware of that. I hope you’ve finished running holiday errands and that the Christmas shopping is complete, because the good weather for doing that has passed.

We still have the possibility of some snow flurries on Sunday, though very little, if any, accumulation is expected. It certainly doesn’t look like enough to cause any travel problems. The greatest travel problems for holiday travelers will come today and tomorrow with all the rain.

Temps drop pretty dramatically behind this arctic front and those cold temps will linger with us through next week. A storm system will begin moving in Wednesday night-Thursday time frame and it will need to be watched. We may have enough cold air still hanging on that any precip could be mixed with snow or be all snow. I’ll definitely be watching it!

Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be a white Christmas to be a merry one.  It it did we’d be hurtin’ for merry Christmases around here! (ha) But seriously, I want to wish you and yours the merriest of Christmases! And, I’m tellin’ ya, this is gonna be the year I get that Doppler radar. I just know it! #beenSOgood
