Light freezing rain is falling all across the Cumberland Plateau this morning. Roads are hazardous, so do not travel unless absolutely necessary. The good news is that roads are expected to improve by around 9:00 a.m., as temps rise above freezing. We will still need to be mindful of the traditionally colder spots across the plateau, esp the valleys, as the cold air may stay trapped in those places until closer to noon.
FYI, if you have travel plans that take you toward Knoxville this morning, be advised that all of this precip is moving east and things are beginning to get slick that direction as well. If you’re headed west toward Nashville, things are much better and once you get west of Cookeville, you are in the clear, as far as wintry precip goes. The current temp in Nashville is 37 degrees. Crossville is still reporting 31 degrees at 7:30.
I’ll have a full blog update, including your 5-day outlook later this morning.
You all stay safe out there this morning!
