The cold front has made it through Nashville, where it is currently 43 degrees with slowly-falling temps. We are 61 here in Crossville (@ 12:45). There’s definitely quite the temperature spread across TN right now! The front is ever-so-slowly making its way eastward and will finally reach the plateau sometime this evening. After the front passes, temps will fall into the 30s. The radar image below as taken at 12:45 p.m. and shows that we still have plenty of showers left for today. Even when the front passes this evening, we may still see some showers linger into the night. Some of these may mix with snow, especially up around Jamestown, but no accumulation is expected at this time. The front tries to make its way back toward the plateau on Monday, bringing another chance of showers. We’ll hold onto rain chances every day this week.
At this time, temps are expected to drop to 34 degrees by Monday morning. If that temp drops closer to 32 we may have some slick spots on the roads in the morning. I’ll let you know if our thinking changes on this. If the front makes it a bit farther south of us tonight, that would usher in a bit colder air. If guidance suggests that we may dip to freezing tonight, I’ll post an update to let you know.
You all stay dry! I’ll have a full update in the morning!
