Severe storms to our west, isolated storms on the plateau

Our atmosphere is quite hot and unstable today and we’re seeing some storms pop up in this environment. As with any storms that fire off in this much heat and humidity, a few could become strong. The atmosphere is a bit more unstable to our west and a severe t-storm watch is in effect for West Tn until 8:00 p.m. Those storms will not threaten us today, but we still need to be mindful of the lightning and gusty winds that any of our storms will be capable of producing.

Severe t-storm watch for the purple-shaded counties. The orange boxes are severe t-storm warnings that are being issued right now (2:00 p.m.)

Radar at 2:00 p.m. Storms are popping up, especially south of I-40 and they’re just drifting around. A new shower or storm could fire off just about anywhere at anytime this afternoon and evening.

And there’s lightning out there this afternoon, as well.
