Folks, we can sleep well tonight. There is one severe t-storm over in West TN near Land Between the Lakes, but we have no reason to worry about that. Our rain-cooled, stable airmass will keep things quiet tonight.
Tomorrow, we’ll have to be mindful of more showers and storms. Some of these storms will be strong to severe, with damaging winds and large hail the main threats. The same rule applies to tomorrow that applied to today. The more sun we get, the more unstable our atmosphere will become, and the stronger our storms will be able to get. I’ll be here watching it all and I’ll have a full update in the morning on the latest thinking. Right now, it looks like most storms will hold off until the afternoon.
Today, we got so very lucky. We had a vigorous disturbance move through but, thankfully, we had very little sun across the plateau. That really limited instability and kept storms much more tame than they would have otherwise been. Folks who got sun today have numerous wind damage reports. That could have been us.
Never the less, the outflow boundary from storms came through and gave many of us quite the show. It was absolutely stunning to watch roll in. I went up on the roof of Trade-A-Plane and got some impressive footage. Yeah, at one point today we had a meteorologist on the roof (never a good sign. ha). If you can’t watch the video here you can catch it on my Facebook page or any of weatherTAP’s social media.
I also got these pictures from the roof. And yes, I was shaking with excitement! It was so incredible watching these storms roll in. Gotta love it when Nature gets crazy! It looked apocalyptic!
And finally, this evening from home.
You all have a great night and enjoy a peaceful nigh of sleep!
