Meteor shower wx update

The disturbance that I mentioned in this morning’s blog is now moving through KY. It should be approaching our area in the 7-9:00 pm. time period. Some strong storms are possible north of I-40. Hopefully, this line will push through and give us some good sky viewing conditions for tonight’s meteor shower. The best time to look for meteors is after 10:00, but it really gets going after midnight and all the way til dawn.

The following statement was just released by the NWS Nashville, “Strong thunderstorms are possible this late this afternoon and into the early evening hours. Storms should move into areas north of I-40 between 4 and 6 pm, push through the Nashville metro area between 5 and 8 pm and begin weakening south of I-40 as we lose the heating of the day. Main concern will be strong gusty winds and small hail.”

Current radar. Storms are moving southeast toward the plateau.

Clearings skies behind the line may move in just in time to let us watch the meteor shower! Fingers crossed!
