Afternoon update

Be careful on your drive home this evening. Scattered showers and storms are popping up across the plateau. Some of these storms contain very heavy downpours of rain that can drop visibility significantly. For now, the heaviest activity is across the western edges of the plateau and up around the Jamestown area. All activity is slowly moving toward Nashville, which is opposite from what we would normally see. That is because the showers are being steered by the circulation around “Gordon”.

So, while you may see the radar below and think there’s a lot of heavy rain moving toward Crossville, it’s actually moving off the plateau and toward Cookeville, Sparta, and Livingston. If you’re traveling those directions this evening be aware of these downpours. Any new development to our east will move our direction.
