A nice beginning of the week, but going downhill Halloween night

Main Threats

Wednesday night-Thursday: Strong storms and heavy rainfall

We sure are off to a nice start to our week! Look for sunny skies and calm winds. We could use some calmer winds after those gusts we had yesterday! Then, just as Halloween gets here, the bottom starts to drop out. I think we’ll be in good shape during the day and for most of the evening, but the later into the evening we go the worse things may get. Right now, I’d say we’ll be in good shape until at least 9:00 p.m. After that, strong storms and heavy rainfall should move in. Stay tuned on the timing, as that could change.

Thursday looks wet and stormy, especially the first half of the day. Rain should start to taper off by Thursday night.

Friday looks cloudy and chilly. I may have to adjust those high temps down to the upper 40s. During the night Friday, a clipper system from the north slides in and gives us some very chilly rain showers/sprinkles. Notice those overnight lows will be in the mid 30s. We may get one or two of those sprinkles to be a snowflake.

The only thing out there is Hurricane Oscar. He’ll be spinning away out at sea and is absolutely no threat to land.

This morning’s low was 38 degrees.

Facebook reminded me that one year ago today I shared this pic with everyone. I had snow granules on my car!

It was cold on this day in 1925, too! Nashville set an October record low of 26 degrees.

Seven years ago today, on October 29, 2011, New York City recorded one inch of snow. This was only the fourth time since the Civil War that snow fell in New York in October.

Switching gears….

We always try to remind everyone that we can also get severe weather this time of year. On this day in 1942 a tornado hit Berryville, Arkansas and killed 20 people. The October twister left half a million dollars in damage behind, as well.

You may have thought Saturday was a very chilly day around here. You were right! Saturday was the first day of this 2018 fall season that we failed to reach a high of 50 degrees. Our official high was 48 degrees at the airport and that occurred at 1:22 a.m. The majority of the day was spent in the mid 40s. The low was only 41 degrees. The clouds kept us from having much of any temperature variation for the day.

You all have a great day!
