NWS Statement about Monday’s potential severe weather

I wanted to share with you some info that was just sent out by the NWS Nashville office. New model data this afternoon continues to support the idea of a severe weather outbreak in the South on Monday. I’ll be keeping a close eye on things. Just make sure you and your family know your severe weather plan. It’s been a while since we’ve had to review that and sometimes we forget.

From NWS Nashville,

“No doubt you have heard about the possibility for some severe weather coming up. The Storm Prediction Center has included Middle Tennessee and surrounding areas in severe thunderstorm outlooks for Monday through Tuesday.
There is potential for a significant severe weather event within the outlook area as early as Monday afternoon and as late as Tuesday evening. Right now, there is still a lot of uncertainty about the severe weather development and timing of this system.
Depending on how things come together, there could be damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Some activities potentially impacted by severe thunderstorms include Monday evening commute, Tuesday commutes, and Election Day activities. Again, the exact timing for any severe weather is unknown at this point.
Please monitor updated forecasts through the weekend.”
  • WHAT:  Possible severe thunderstorms, including damaging wind, large hail, and tornadoes
  • WHEN:  Monday afternoon through Tuesday
  • WHERE:  All of Mid Tennessee and surrounding areas (from the Mid Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley and across much of the Southeast)

Let’s hope this all either fizzles out or misses us altogether. But, while we’re hoping for that, let’s go ahead and prepare. It never hurts to be prepared.

You all have a great weekend. Get out and look at those pretty leaves! I’m not sure how many leaves will survive the winds of this coming week.
