Update from SPC

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) just released a new updated discussion concerning our storms and they confirm what I’ve been seeing on radar; the storms are struggling this afternoon. They cite extensive cloud cover that is limiting instability. Are we out of the woods? No. But things are looking better! Let’s keep those clouds hanging on! It’s weird how we go from wishing for sun one day and hoping for clouds another (ha). Today is the day to wish for clouds!

The SPC notes that instability is much higher to our south, across Alabama. They expect more tornado warnings to be issued there.

We may still get a tornado watch before the storms get here but that is yet to be determined. The greatest threat continues to be straight-line winds.

So, the bottom line is that…..so far, so good! Let’s keep those fingers crossed for another severe weather dodge!

Below is the latest discussion graphic from the SPC.

And this is the current radar. That squall line is trying to organize but it’s struggling. There are currently no active warnings in TN.
