Everything looks on track. If I were to change anything at this point it would be to say that storm timing might have backed up a bit. I would say to be weather-aware at and after 5:00 a.m. Other than that, things are looking on track.
Don’t be surprised if you here rain and thunder at any time tonight, and we can’t rule out a strong or briefly severe storm. Hail and gusty winds would be the main threats. This would be the result of a very dynamic warm front lifting north. The main threat, however, is for early Sunday morning.
We’re seeing some strong storms in southern Middle TN now. They have been severe at times. The atmosphere is much more unstable down there.
So, be ready to get up early in the morning. Some of these storms could pack a punch. Don’t be fooled by the rain-cooled air of this evening. Once the warm front arrives later tonight the winds will shift to the south and temps may rise to near 70 degrees by daybreak. Those southerly winds may become quite gusty, so be aware of that.
There have been tornadoes reported today but this has not become the outbreak it looked like it would be. That’s good news for us. It’s also good news that storms will hit more in the morning, and not in the middle of the night.
I’ll be watching it all. You all have a good evening.
Below is the current radar, showing some strong storms in southern Middle TN. Those are lifting north and are showing signs of weakening.
