Don’t be fooled by those partly cloudy skies outside. We all know that sunshine can really destabilize things ahead of a cold front. Right now, that front is moving into western Kentucky, so it’s still many miles away.
Looking at radar, we are finally seeing some storms develop ahead of that front. The developing line of storms has just moved through Bowling Green, Kentucky. As these storms move closer, they will likely grow stronger and more organized. They’ve really began to blossom within the past hour.
In response to this, the Storm Prediction Center has placed all of the plateau in the marginal risk for severe storms. That is an upgrade from earlier outlooks issued by them for today. The primary threat, as with last night’s storms, will be gusty winds that could briefly become damaging. Small hail is also a threat. I’ll be watching it!
