3:30 Storm Update

The Storm Prediction Center just updated their severe weather outlook and they left most of the plateau in the marginal risk for severe storms for this evening. The complex of storms in Illinois continues to move southeastward, toward our region. Severe t-storm watches now extend into southern Kentucky. The storms do appear to be weakening, but every once in a while they all seem to pulse back up again and severe storm warnings start being issued again.

I expect this line to sag into TN later this evening. I still expect it to be approaching the plateau by 6:00 pm and affecting the plateau between 6-8:00 pm.

The latest convective outlook keeps the plateau in the marginal risk for severe storms. The slight risk is in yellow for Kentucky. The severe t-storm watch consists of the counties you see outlined.

The line of storms moving our away. Severe t-storm warnings are still being issued as the line presses south into our hot and humid airmass.

There’s a lot of lightning activity too! Notice we have other storms popping up on the plateau well ahead of this line. These storms could be on the strong side, as well.

I’ll keep an eye on things!
