A wet lunch and an update on the tropics

Make sure you take that rain gear with you if you’re headed out for lunch! We have plenty of showers around! The good news is that, at this hour, there is no lightning anywhere around.

The National Hurricane Center has just updated the latest info on Dorian and it’s not good. The latest guidance shows the storm hitting Puerto Rico as a hurricane, but instead of moving over the bigger part of the island and weakening, it may just deal them a glancing blow. This means that Dorian would be a stronger storm in the Bahamas.

The official forecast has been adjusted and now shows Dorian being a tropical storm in the Bahamas and not just a depression. To make matters more concerning, long range forecast models show an environment favorable for further intensification as the storm makes its way to the Bahamas.

This is definitely one to watch.
