I’ve been seeing some social media posts about severe weather for our area and I wanted to give you all an update.
As expected, the storms are really losing their punch as they move our way. In fact, they’re struggling to even hold together for the Nashville area. Yes, we have plenty of wind shear that is favorable for severe weather, but that’s only part of the equation. We’re missing a BIG piece of the puzzle; instability.
On “severe weather days” you can step outside and feel the energy. That hot and humid stickiness to the air. We’re obviously missing that today (instability). That doesn’t mean we can’t have storms, it just means that we’re not going to see widespread severe weather with this cold front.
Pictured below is the current radar. I also have a feeling we’re not going to get much rain from this. It had looked like we could get an inch or two but now I’m thinking more along the lines of half an inch. I sure hope I’m wrong. The main line of activity should be here between 5-9:00 p.m.
Images of the tornado damage from around Dallas last night are rough to see. Let’s keep those folks close to our hearts today, and let us be thankful that we don’t have to deal with that here.
