The rocket is headed to the launch pad!

NASA just posted that the rocket is being rolled out toward the launch pad! This is a very slow process, so they start it days before the launch. This is an Antares rocket and it will carry 8,200 pounds of science and research, crew supplies, and vehicle hardware to the International Space Station. The launch is scheduled for November 2 at 8:59 a.m. CDT.

This is my fifth NASA Social to be accepted to and the fourth I will have attended! So many people are blessed to get accepted to just one! This time, only 50 people were chosen from the enormous pool of applicants. You’re very lucky Meteorologist Mark was one of them! ha

Remember to follow it all right here at MeteorologistMark.com AND on my personal Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/thunderchaser)! To get the most up-to-date blog posts, follow the blog. I’ll have tons of updates and we’re sure to learn all kinds of cool stuff! I can’t wait to see what science experiments they’re sending up on this launch!

I’ve said it once but I’ll say it again, it’s not just seeing a rocket launch that makes these trips so special (though that is pretty DARN cool!). Equally important is the people you meet, from the other NASA Social recipients, to the folks who make all this magic happen at NASA. The networking opportunities are nearly endless. Plus, it’s not a bad gig when you find yourself surrounded by other NASA nerds. ha

This will be my first NASA Social at Wallops Island, so it’s sure to be a unique NASA adventure experience! And be sure to tell all the NASA nerds in your life to follow along!

I’m sure I’ll have MUCH to tell in the next class I do about rockets for the kids!

Again, be sure and follow it all right here on the blog and on my personal Facebook page!
