Monday Wx Update (11:50 a.m.)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful rainy Monday! We certainly have more where this came from!

I just sat in on a conference call from the NWS Nashville and they continue, like me, to reiterate the flood risk. We have more heavy rain coming today and even more in the morning. Please be careful if you encounter a flooded roadway. Turn around, don’t drown.

They also reiterated the severe t-storm risk for Wednesday afternoon through the night. I’ll work on timing of that as we get closer but right now it’s looking like one round is possible Wednesday afternoon, with an additional, stronger, round of storms later that evening.

All modes of severe weather will be possible with Wednesday’s storms, including the threat for an isolated tornado. I think our greater concern will be any straight-line winds that can occur. It won’t take much wind at all to topple some of these trees in this saturated soil. We saw this with our last round of storms last week. This event may be quite similar in nature. Prepare for some power outages, just in case.

Even with the severe weather threat, let’s not let our guard down to the flood threat. With 4-6 inches of rain coming this week (isolated spots will see more!), we can all expect to be impacted in some way by flooded streets, etc. Slow down and drive safe.

I’ll be keeping a very close eye on all of this and keeping you updated.
