Rain and storms are approaching the plateau at this hour. If trends continue, the bulk of the rain will stay along and north of I-40. Those of you south of the interstate may just have a passing shower to deal with and that’s about it.
If your travel plans take you toward Jamestown or Livingston this afternoon, you will need to allow yourself extra time. Also, there is a marginal risk for severe storms for those areas. I think those of us around Cumberland County will be fine.
Another round of rain will move in late this evening, likely after sunset. That should just be showers and t-showers.
The current radar shows plenty of rainfall to our west and north, with some of that being quite heavy. Storms near the KY/TN border have been strengthening over the past half hour.
Again, those of you north of I-40 need to be weather-aware today, as many of you all are in the marginal risk for severe weather (dark green shaded region). An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out for those areas. That includes the cities of Cookeville, Monterey, Livingston, and Jamestown.
