3:15 Storm Update

WHAT: A strong/severe thunderstorm

WHEN: 3:00 – 9:00 pm for the threat timeframe

The 3:00 update from the Storm Prediction Center continues to keep our area in the marginal risk for severe storms this afternoon and evening. Remember, I said to be weather-aware from 3:00-9:00. We have some storms developing to our west that we’ll have to keep an eye on the rest of the day.

The lack of sunshine has kept our atmosphere more stable than if we had sun all morning and afternoon. Still, things have destabilized to the degree that a strong to severe thunderstorm or two could still threaten the plateau as we go through the day.

I’m keeping an eye on it!

My current level of concern has crept up a bit. The rising dewpoint temperatures have increased to levels that would easily support a strong to severe t-storm. You may have noticed it feeling a bit more humid outside, compared to this morning. I’m now on the lowest end of the medium threat.
