Noon Saturday Weather Update

WHAT: Strong to severe thunderstorms, with large hail being a primary threat. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, esp if we get a lot of sunshine.

WHEN: 2:00-6:00 pm

The chance for isolated to scattered t-storms continues for this afternoon. The 11:30 update from the Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight our area in the slight risk for severe storms. All modes of severe weather are possible. They, like me, note that the degree of severity of these storms hinges on whether or not we get sunshine.

There are new concerns, with the latest round of data, that the warm front may get closer to us than previously thought. That would certainly add to instability.

With all the cold air we have aloft, hail could be a real concern with any storm that develops. I wouldn’t even be surprised to even see showers produce small hail.

My concern is holding steady. However, if we get any sun my concern will increase. Looking at satellite data, it looks like we have some breaks in the clouds across Middle TN. I’ll keep you all posted.
