WHAT: A strong, briefly severe, storm
WHEN: Now until 4:00 pm (time bumped up one hour since last update)
Showers and storms continue to slowly move our way. Some of the storms contain wind gusts to 50 mph, and it’s not out of the question that a storm or two could produce a severe wind gust (> 58 mph). The greater impact should be from the heavy downpours of rain. There may also be some small hail within those downpours.
You’ll also hear some rumbling. Radar has been showing lightning activity.
Pictured below is the current radar. As you can see, we have some very heavy downpours moving onto the plateau. If you have travel plans to Cookeville or Nashville this afternoon, allow yourself plenty of extra time.
My concern level remains low.
I’ll update again, as needed.
