WHAT: Severe storms with a history of producing damaging winds
TIMING: Be weather aware from 5:00-9:00.
Skies are darkening to our west and for good reason. Our line of severe storms continues to charge into Middle TN. The storms are now moving through the Nashville area. Very heavy rainfall, damaging winds, and even some hail are possible with this line of storms.
Our sunshine today sure was nice but it has also helped to warm our surface temps and destabilize the atmosphere.
This line of storms has a history of damaging winds. I’ve seen numerous reports of downed trees and power lines in the wake of these storms. We need to prepare for power outages, just in case we lose power.
Severe t-storm warnings now extend as far east as Carthage. The next round of warnings will reach western sections of the plateau. These storms are producing widespread wind damage. There are also some storms already trying to develop around Dale Hollow Lake. Speaking of which…if you know anyone out on a lake this afternoon/evening be sure they know we have these storms coming.
Even behind this line there are isolated severe storms developing. We’ll have to watch for those later in the evening and see if that happens in our neck of the woods behind this main line.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 8:00 pm.
My level of concern is now high.
