WHAT: Strong to severe storms
WHEN TO BE WEATHER AWARE: Now until 10:00 pm (adjusted upward)
NOTE: The main line of storms from Missouri should arrive between 8:00-10:00, but storms developing along the warm front could occur at any time now.
Storms are beginning to fire off across parts of Middle TN, in response to the warm front lifting north. You can tell our skies are getting that milky look to them, an indication that upper-level moisture is increasing in the atmosphere.
So far, the storms are behaving themselves in TN. But, we need to keep a close eye on storms that are back in Arkansas and Missouri that will slide this way later on this evening.
The atmosphere is such that a storm could pop up at any time now. The warm front slowly lifting north could spark a storm. Any storm that develops could be strong to severe.
My concern remains unchanged from the last update. This level of concern is mainly for folks along and south of I-40. Unlike yesterday’s storms, the threat today seems to be focused south of the interstate. Never the less, we need to all be weather aware this evening into the overnight.
The current radar shows things are looking alright at this hour. That could change dramatically in the coming hours. Storms are moving east. We need to keep an eye on those storms south of Nashville, as well as those back over Missouri.
I’ll keep an eye on things and update as needed. Severe weather watches are likely as we go through the evening.
