Main threats
Storms on Thursday could pack a punch. Be weather aware in the afternoon and early evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our region in the marginal risk for severe storms.
Baldwin’s Severe Wx Concern
My concern remains low. However, if a squall line develops to our north, as some guidance suggest, that could increase my concern if it moves our way. The main threat would be damaging, straight-line winds.
Baldwin’s 7-Day forecast

Today: Partly cloudy and warm. Humidity will be noticeably higher than in previous days. The heat and humidity will lead to a slight chance for an afternoon/evening storm.

Friday: Scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon/evening.
Saturday – Sunday: Partly cloudy and warm. A chance for mainly afternoon/evening showers and/or storms.
Monday -Tuesday: Rain chances depend on how close Tropical Storm Cristobal tracks to us. Monitoring.
Hay Weather Forecast
Today is the last good hay weather day for a while! Some of you may even deal with a shower or storm today, though most of us will stay dry but humid. Rain chances dominate the forecast from tomorrow through early next week.

Today’s
Wx Hazards Across the Nation
Severe storms threaten an area from the plains to the Mid-Atlantic. The greatest risk for tornadoes is across western South Dakota and then again in a region from Pennsylvania and point east. The greatest risk for very large hail can be found across western Nebraska and western South Dakota. Tropical Storm Cristobal is in the southern Gulf.
Tomorrow’s
Wx Hazards Across the Nation
Severe storms will threaten parts of the plains again this day. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including tornadoes. Cristobal may weaken for this day, before strengthening again.
Friday’s
Wx Hazards Across the Nation
Showers and storms can be found across the country, with Tropical Storm Cristobal strengthening in the Gulf.
Tropics
Tropical Storm Cristobal has winds of 60 mph this morning, making it a strong tropical storm. The system may weaken today, as it interacts with land, but should restrengthen in time, when it moves out into the Gulf. The system will then track slowly north and make landfall somewhere from Texas to the Alabama coastline Sunday night as a tropical storm or low-end hurricane.
Records
The latest frost ever recorded for Crossville occurred on this day in 1956. The low temperature that morning was 33 degrees! I can see my tomato plants shivering at this very thought! (ha)
