WHAT: A strong/severe thunderstorm
WHEN: This afternoon and evening (2:00 – 8:00)
We’re seeing storms pop on radar this warm and humid afternoon. Those will likely increase in both coverage and intensity over the next several hours. A few of these storms could become strong or even severe, with damaging straight-line wind gusts being the main threat. A couple of storms could produce some hail, too.
Just be weather aware if you’re out and about. As always, don’t forget that deadly cloud-to-ground lightning that will be present with any storm. We could also see localized flash flooding from heavy downpours. Keep that in mind if you’re driving and get caught in one of these downpours.
The current radar shows storms forming at a diagonal across Cumberland County. This activity is moving northeast. More storms will form as we go through the afternoon hours.
