Threats
Although widespread severe weather is not expected, any storm that develops in the afternoon or early evening could become quite intense. Deadly cloud-to-ground lightning and a damaging wind gust would be the main threats. Any activity of this nature should be very isolated and short-lived.
Baldwin’s Severe Weather Concern
Due to the very isolated, short-lived nature of any storm, my concern is on the low end of the scale.
An approaching storm system by the end of the weekend may create conditions a bit more favorable for some robust thunderstorm activity. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but there could be one or two severe storms from time to time across the plateau with this system. A damaging wind gust would be the main threat.

Daily Forecast
Today: Partly cloudy and very nice. Only a very slight risk for an afternoon shower or storm.
Wednesday – Friday: Much of the same, though it will be warming up a bit and becoming more humid. That will make conditions uncomfortable, especially by Friday afternoon. A very slight risk for a shower or storm each day.
Saturday: Very warm and humid. A slight risk for an afternoon/evening shower or storm.
Sunday: Scattered showers and storms by the afternoon. Very warm and humid.
Monday: More scattered showers and storms are expected.
Baldwin’s Hay Day Forecast
Your Hay Day Outlook, the only one of its kind on the plateau, shows a really nice week for working in hay. Hopefully, many of you will get your hay cut, baled, and hauled in this week. While we can’t rule out a very isolated shower or storm over the coming days, the greater rain chances should hold off until Sunday and Monday. Right now, Monday rain chances are looking pretty good. I’ll keep you posted.

An area of low pressure is being monitored off the Carolina Coast. It is highly unlikely that it will become a tropical storm before moving inland tonight, but the low is expected to bring very heavy tropical downpours to the Carolina Coast by tonight. That could lead to a significant threat for flooding.

Records
On this day in 1944 a tornado in Sioux City, IA, traveled an odd course. It spun in one place for about twenty minutes, made a U-turn, traveled southeast for about three miles, then traveled south, east, north, and finally east again.
Nowadays, GPS keeps this nonsense from happening. (HA!)
Long Range Outlook
As we move into the third week of June (June 21 – 25), the extended outlooks favor normal to below normal temps and above normal rainfall.
