1:30 Saturday Afternoon Update on Tonight’s Storms

WHAT: A line of strong to severe storms

WHERE: Mainly north of Interstate 40.

The Storm Prediction Center has raised our threat level for tonight to a slight risk for severe storms. The main threat will be damaging straight-line winds. It looks like the threat will hold off until after midnight. I’ll be up and keeping an eye on things. The greater threat continues to be across all of Overton and Fentress Counties, as well as the northern half of Cumberland County (basically everyone along and north of I-40).

My concern has increased from this morning. I’m now in the Medium end of the scale.

By the way, our hazy skies right now are a combination of humidity and dust form those Saharan dust storms you’ve seen in the news lately. If you look toward the horizons you can see a brownish hue to the sky. That’s from that dust.

I’ll keep an eye on things and keep you all updated!
