Tropical Storm Fay Forms

The National Hurricane Center has now determined that the system they’ve been monitoring off the Carolina coast is now Tropical Storm Fay. The storm is expected to hug the East Coast and bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds to coastal areas.

This is the earliest we have ever recorded a sixth named storm during a hurricane season. This is also the third consecutive named storm to form unusually far to the north.
