Threats
Just be safe in the heat of the afternoons and evenings. Drink plenty of water, stay in the shade/air conditioning, and take it easy. And always check that backseat for kids/pets. Make sure outdoor pets have fresh water and shade.
Any storm that develops could be strong to briefly severe, especially in the heat of the day. Always be mindful of that deadly cloud-to-ground lightning.
Baldwin’s Severe Weather Concern
I have now started adding a marker showing the threat level from the previous outlook, so you can see how my concern level changes with time. This will allow you to see if I’m getting more concerned with a situation or less concerned. I hope this is helpful!
My concern has increased a bit from yesterday, owing to the increased risk for storms each day, as well as the increased risk for a complex of storms or two to impact our region in the coming days. I’ll keep an eye on all of this. This is a very typical summer pattern for our area.
Baldwin’s 7-Day forecast
Daily Forecast
Today: Hot and humid. A chance for showers and storms this afternoon/evening. Some of those showers and storms could linger into the overnight hours, as well. Some storms could be strong to briefly severe.
Friday – Wednesday: Hot and humid, with scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoons and evenings. Any storm that develops could be on the strong side.
Baldwin’s Hay Day Forecast
Shower and storm chances have increased a bit for this afternoon and evening, therefore I’ve had to drop the whole hay bale and exchange it for half a bale. This begins a pattern that will be with us for some time, with hot and humid days and scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoons and evenings.

Storm chasers captured this absolutely incredible image of a tornado near Ashby, Minnesota on July 8th. The chasers are actually sisters who chase together. Their Twitter name is @_TwisterSisters (ha). They sure know how to get a good tornado pic!
NASA Nerdology
The International Space Station crew snapped this starry nighttime shot of Rio de Janeiro and surrounding cities on the Brazilian coast, as the station orbited above São Paolo. While the crew observes Earth from more than 200 miles above the planet, astronaut Bob Behnken and Commander Chris Cassidy also are concentrating on the final set of power upgrade spacewalks on the station with their next spacewalk slated for today!
