Full Moon Rising

The Full Moon is currently rising and it is quite the sight to see! Step out and look east. If you can’t see it just yet, just wait a few minutes and you’ll see it rise. Few things are prettier than the Full Moon in the night sky. The current time is 8:03 pm.

This Full Moon is known as the Corn Moon. It is named for the harvesting of the corn this time of year.

I’ve included a map of the sky at around 10:00 pm. Mars will be off to the east, while Saturn and Jupiter are off to the west. We do have some high thin clouds out there, so the view may be obscured a bit.

Happy sky watching! At least it’s nice and warm out. It won’t be long before I’ll be advising you wear a jacket while heading out……but not tonight!
