Today’s Choice of Outdoor Activity

It’s a good day to carry an umbrella!

Baldwin’s Hay Day Forecast

The Fall hay weather forecast looks bad today, but things will gradually improve. Things should really improve next week, as a cooler and drier air mass settles in.

Almanac

Yesterday’s National High and Low Temperature

High: 108° at Brawley, California

Low: 22° at Peter Sinks, Utah

Tropics

All is quiet! Whew….. I think many of us needed this break!

Today’s Wx Hazards Across the Nation

“Beta” will bring some downpours to parts of the Southeast today. There will also be a wildfire danger across parts of Wyoming, while snowflakes fly in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

Tomorrow’s Wx Hazards Across the Nation

More heavy rainfall from “Beta” will fall across the Carolinas. A bit of a wildfire danger continues across southern Wyoming. Also, look at the snowflakes flying across the Northwest!

 On This Day

On this day in 1972, lightning struck a man near Waldport, Oregon. The young man was carrying thirty-five pieces of dynamite.

Long Range Outlook

Next week just keeps trending colder. Dare I say we’ll see our first frost? I wouldn’t be surprised! Unfortunately, hot and dry conditions are expected out west again. That does not bode well for the wildfire danger.

Weather Shot

The drought monitor is updated every Tuesday but released to the public on Thursdays. This is today’s update. Notice how incredibly dry it is out west. It’s getting pretty darn dry in the Northeast, too.

NASA Nerdology

Astronauts are preparing now for moonwalks planned for when we land the first woman and next man on the Moon — and they’re practicing underwater to evaluate how we’ll train for Artemis missions. Remember, Artemis is the name of the next man-to-moon program.

You all have a great day!
