1951 – At 7:00 in the morning, a blinding flash from a huge ball of fire, along with a terrific roar, occurred over parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. The commotion was caused by a disintegrating meteor. Windows were broken in and near Hinton, Oklahoma! Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire! (ha)

Tropical Outlook
The tropical depression in the Caribbean is expected to become Tropical Storm Eta sometime today. That center of the system will then track toward Cuba and eventually southern Florida and the Florida Keys region by Monday (though impacts will begin tomorrow). The system is expected to remain a tropical storm, though it is possible it could become a low-end hurricane in the eastern Gulf by Wednesday. The path beyond the middle of next week is quite uncertain, though some of the more reliable models have it swinging back east and making landfall along the northern coast of western Florida (just north of Tampa?). The system may then move up the eastern seaboard. I’ll keep you posted.
Another area of disturbed weather will likely develop in the eastern Atlantic. That could become another named storm in time.
Today’s National Wx Hazards
Snowflakes are flying out west, with heavy snow expected across western Montana and southwest Colorado. Quiet weather prevails in the eastern US.
Tomorrow’s National Wx Hazards
Heavy snow and freezing rain covers much of Montana and northern North Dakota. Accumulating snowfall will overspread much of the northern Rockies. Conditions remain quiet in the east, though all eyes will be on Tropical Storm Eta and the forecast path that takes it to southern Florida by Monday.
8 – 14 Day Outlook (Nov 14-20)
Heat builds in the eastern US, while precipitation trails off for nearly every region except the Pacific Northwest. If this verifies, we could see record heat in our region by next weekend.
