On Wednesday, a powerful storm system will approach the area. Some of the storms with this system could be on the stronger side. I’ll keep you posted. At this time, widespread severe weather is not expected.

On This Day in Wx History

1900- An F-4 tornado cut a devastating swath 300 yards wide and 8 miles long along the northwest edge of Columbia, located in southern Middle Tennessee. Hardin, Wayne, and Lewis Counties may have had related tornado activity before the storm reached Columbia. Most deaths are in the Macedonia community, 2 miles west of Columbia, where the homes and cabins are “turned into kindling wood.” The funnel was moving northeastward, heading for the center of Columbia, but turns suddenly to the north. Damage is estimated at $40,000. The tornado kills 27, and injures 75. It is the 4th deadliest tornado to ever strike Middle Tennessee. Another F-3 tornado kills 9 and injures 40 along a 25-mile path across Williamson, Davidson, and Rutherford Counties.

Can you believe it’s already that time of year?! Sugar Mountain, North Carolina became the first ski resort in the Southeast to open this season when it opened up today! They have an 8-22″ base, with five runs being open. (Thanks to Evan Fisher (@EFisherWX) for the info.)

NASA Nerdology

There will be another ISS fly over this evening! This one should be even better than yesterday’s. Look to the southwest at 5:15 and wait for the ISS. It will rise to a height of 69 degrees and be visible for five minutes, before setting in the northeast.

This was the view from Crew Dragon, as the four astronauts were en route to the International Space Station on Monday. What a view of our precious planet!
