Meteorologist Mark’s Severe Wx Concern

The latest data shows our atmosphere becoming a bit more unstable on Wednesday than it looked like it would be with yesterday’s data. Therefore, the threat has increased a bit. Still, we remain on the “very low” end of the threat scale. I’ll let you know if that changes!

Another system bears watching this weekend (more info below).

Threats

A strong storm system will bring the chance for thunderstorms to our region on Wednesday. A few of those storms could be on the stronger side. I’ll keep an eye on it. Right now, widespread severe weather is not expected.

By this weekend, another powerful storm system will approach from the west. That system could also have some stronger storms associated with it. I’ll monitor that situation as we go through this week.

On This Day in Wx History

2004 – An outbreak of severe thunderstorms produced reports of 54 tornadoes across portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama. In Texas’s Hardin county, one person was killed and three were injured when a tornado struck during the afternoon.

Almanac

Yesterday’s National Temperature Extremes

High: 89° at Pharr, Texas & Sabino Canyon, Arizona

Low: -33° at Peter Sinks, Utah

Tropical Outlook

An area of disturbed weather continues to be monitored in the Atlantic. The good news is that it is moving out to sea.

Today’s National Wx Hazards

Accumulating snowfall can be found across New York State, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in a stretch of real estate from southern Indiana to southern Wisconsin, and across the northern Rockies and stretching eastward to Denver. Freezing rain could cause problems in northern Maine. Elsewhere, hazardous weather is not expected.

Tomorrow’s National Wx Hazards

Unsettled weather can be found throughout the middle of the country. Accumulating snowfall may be found across Wisconsin, Colorado, and eastern Washington/northern Idaho that could cause travel issues.

 8 – 14 Day Outlook (Nov 30 – Dec. 6)

Much of the country looks warm and dry for the first week of December, with the exception of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, where conditions may be a bit wetter and therefore cooler.

On Saturday, with perfect weather, my cousin Brandon Dixon married his best friend Kailyn Carver. We wish them all the very best, and many more laughs, as they begin this new adventure together! And yes, my gift was the weather. ha

Happy belated birthday to astronaut Eileen Collins! A skilled pilot, Collins was selected as an astronaut in 1990 and became the first female Space Shuttle Pilot in 1995 and the first female Space Shuttle Commander in 1999. On November 19th, Collins turned 64 years young.
