Winter Wx Advisory Issued

WHAT: Light snow

WHEN: After dark through Friday morning

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the Cumberland Plateau for tonight and Friday. The advisory is for 1-2 inches of snowfall, with isolated locations picking up 3 inches. The advisory goes into effect at 11:00 pm, though I would be ready for wintry precip any time after dark, just to be safe. I’ve seen far too many winter weather events arrive earlier than expected.

My forecast has been generally on track with the NWS forecast, though I tend to lean more toward one inch or less, with isolated locations picking up a bit more. I still think areas south of the interstate have the better chance for those isolated higher amounts.

Be careful if you must be out and about after dark this evening. You should extend that caution to Friday morning, as well. Any snow that falls could easily create slick spots on area roads, especially since ground temperatures are so cold.

I’ll keep an eye on things and let you know if anything changes!
