The winter weather advisory issued by the NWS Nashville is now in effect, though precip is still yet to move in for many of us. The bulk of that moisture is still in the Nashville area and moving our way. That precip will likely start out as a rain/snow mix, transitioning to all snow. Snowfall amounts have trended downward a bit. I think any of us could see up to one inch, with a couple of locations getting more than an inch.
The radar image below shows much of that precip back toward Nashville. Those bright yellows you see aren’t heavy rain, but rain mixed with big wet snowflakes and sleet. That makes the radar return a brighter signal. Much of the precip over the plateau is evaporating before it hits the ground. That will change as our airmass moistens up.

Be careful if you must be out and about tonight. I think roads will be fine until about sunset or so. Temps are tumbling across the plateau, with many locations already in the upper 30s. Temps will continue tumbling into the low 20s by later tonight.
