MM Tues 3:00 pm Wx Update

Things are looking better for us. I know many of us have seen some peaks of the sun, which doesn’t help us out, but there are other moving parts to this system that are working in our favor.

First, the atmosphere is still trying to recover from this morning’s rough round of storms. Sometimes that can take so much energy from the atmosphere that the atmosphere struggles to recover. That bodes well for us.

The Deep South is getting hammered by rain and storms. That means our south winds are blowing in from rain-cooled areas. Plus, all the energy going into their storms is robbing our atmosphere of energy. That bodes well for us.

The Storm Prediction Center has lowered our threat to the marginal risk. This is the lowest of the five severe weather risk categories. They think that the factors I’ve mentioned above will work in our favor. That also bodes well for us.

A new special discussion just issued for eastern Arkansas says the Storm Prediction Center does not plan to issue any watches for that area. That’s a good sign for us, since our storms will come from the west.

Never the less, let’s stay weather-aware until this front passes through later this evening. The threat should be completely over by 9:00 pm, if not earlier. I’ll update again later this evening, or as needed.

Our threat window for the plateau appears to be between 5:00-8:00 pm.

My level of concern has decreased.

I’ll keep an eye on things this evening. Just keep those apps going and that weather radio turned on. Be ready to take cover, if needed. The good news is that this batch of storms should be nothing like the rough stuff we had this morning.

And don’t forget that no matter the weather, it’s always a good time to list your home! Just call EXIT at 931-456-2903 and ask for Meteorologist Mark! I’ll even throw in a free weather radio! 🙂

  1. I am new to this area, and want to program my weather radio. Would you mind telling me the radio frequencies I should ( try ) to program my Midland Wx radio to? I live in Fairfield Glade.

    1. That channel is 164.400 mhz. Let me know if you have any more questions!

      1. Thank you so much! Now I just have to figure out how to program the darn thing! LOL
