Almanac for Yesterday

Tropics
Is this May or July? We now have TWO areas that have good chances of developing into tropical depressions or even tropical storms. One is out in the Atlantic and would only be a threat to Bermuda, as it looks right now. The other is in the Gulf and could impact Texas in the coming days. The official start of hurricane season doesn’t start until June 1st.

Sun & The Moon
Look for that Moon in the late afternoon sky! It’s big enough that you can see it, even as the sun is still shining.

NASA Nerdology
On May 19, 1932, Amelia Earhart took off in her red Lockheed Vega to become the second person, and first woman, to make a solo nonstop transatlantic flight. These first pioneers of the sky set the stage for flights that would eventually take us to the Moon.
