Monday Sun Day

Many scientists think the sun and the rest of the solar system formed from a giant, rotating cloud of gas and dust known as the solar nebula. As the nebula collapsed because of its gravity, it spun faster and flattened into a disk. Most of the material was pulled toward the center to form the sun.

Today’s Tennessee Weather

The same pattern that brought us scattered showers and storms over the weekend will bring us more of the same for the start of our new workweek. Rain chances are around 50%. Clouds and showers will keep afternoon highs around 80 degrees statewide.

Tonight’s Tennessee Weather

Scattered showers and thunderstorms become less widespread into the night. Still, there will continue to be at least low rain chances overnight, with low temps dropping into the mid to upper 60s.

Tomorrow’s Tennessee Weather

Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible for Tuesday. Rain chances will once again be about 50%. Afternoon highs should warm into the low to mid 80s for most.

Drought Monitor

The drought monitor is updated each Thursday.

NASA Nerdology

Yesterday would have been John Glenn’s 100th Birthday. Earlier this month, I shared John’s accomplishment of setting the then transcontinental speed record in 1957, which played a role in his selection for the first class of NASA Astronauts – the Mercury 7.
