Today’s Stats

Almanac for Yesterday

On This Day in Wx History

1989 – Thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall with flash flooding in West Virginia. Pickens, West Virginia, reported 4.80 inches of rain in 24 hours. Evening thunderstorms in Mississippi deluged Alta Woods with 4.25 inches of rain in less than an hour. Thunderstorms also produced heavy rain in southeastern Kentucky, and flooding was reported along Big Creek and along Stinking Creek. The Stinking Creek volunteer fire department reported water levels 12 to 14 feet above the stream’s banks.

Yesterday’s National Temperature Extremes

High:  110° at Stovepipe Wells, California

Low:   25° at Bodie, California

Today’s Tennessee Weather

It’s a warm and sunny summer day across the state! After some morning fog, look for mostly sunny skies and afternoon high temps near 90 degrees for much of the area.

Tonight’s Tennessee Weather

Be mindful of patchy fog overnight. Otherwise, skies will be mostly clear, with low temps dropping to around 70 degrees.

Tomorrow’s Tennessee Weather

If you like Monday’s weather you’re going to like Tuesday’s weather, too! It’s another day of sunshine but the heat will be cranking up a bit. By Tuesday afternoon, afternoon high temps will be climbing into the low to mid 90s. Be safe in the heat.

Tropics

The tropics have quietened down, but there are still two areas to watch closely. Both of the yellow-shaded areas have 30% chances of developing into something this week. I’ll keep you posted!

“Henri”, now a tropical depression with 30 mph winds, has stalled out over New England. Hopefully it will scoot back out to sea soon and bring an end to the flooding there.
