Today’s Stats

Almanac for Yesterday

On This Day in Wx History

2002- The remnants of Tropical Storm Isidore move across Middle Tennessee during the overnight hours. Waverly sets a new single-day rainfall record* with 8.18″.

*This was a record set before the flash flood disaster they had this year.

Yesterday’s National Temperature Extremes

High:  107° at Death Valley, California

Low:   14° at Peter Sinks, Utah

Tropics

The tropics are active but thankfully all the systems seem to be following each out to sea and away from the US.

Hurricane Sam is the most powerful (by far!) of all the systems that are being tracked. It continues to look like Sam will stay away from the US, but that’s not 100% certain just yet. Sam is packing winds of 145 mph this morning, making him a very dangerous cat 4.

Meteorologist Mark Pro

The latest newsletter has been released for this week, featuring topics on Hurricane Hugo and the mysterious noctilucent clouds.

This coming week’s newsletter will feature an article about a chilly year we had on the plateau back in the 1950s, as well as article on the fires in the Sequoias and how those fires may affect us.

Coming in October, a kid’s science newsletter will be included with the MeteorologistMarkPro subscription! This has been requested many times over the past few years and by October it will be a reality! I’m so excited to be adding this to the growing list of products offered by the Pro subscription! October’s issue is looking really cool!

You all have a great day and keep lookin’ up!
