Today’s Stats

Almanac for Yesterday

On This Day in Wx History
1974- An early-autumn cold snap sends temperatures to record low values. Crossville checks in with 26 degrees. It is the 3rd of 4 consecutive daily record low temperatures.
Yesterday’s National Temperature Extremes
High: 101° at both Death Valley & Santee, California
Low: 11° at Peter Sinks, Utah
Tropics
Well, a new area to monitor has surfaced this morning. It’s a low chance for development, but the National Hurricane Center is now monitoring an area of low pressure that could be headed toward the Southeast Coast by the end of this week.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Sam continues to spin out to sea.
Victor has weakened into a depression. He could strengthen back into a tropical storm today, but then atmospheric conditions are expected to destroy him later tonight and tomorrow. That makes the atmosphere sound like an evil dictator or something. haha

MM News
The Bigfoot Festival is coming! As many of you know, I am the director of that festival. As we plan for the thousands who will come into town for this unique festival, the excitement is building! As many as 20,000 people are expected…maybe more! The festival is a charity event to benefit the United Fund of Cumberland County. The more people who show up, the more money we raise for our local nonprofits! Many of those nonprofits offer services that we’ll all likely need at some point in our lives. Mark those calendars for October 16th and plan to be at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. For MUCH more information, please see https://ucbigfoot.com/!

Meteorologist Mark Pro
The new kids newsletter is out! It’s free to preview, too! Just go to https://meteorologistmarkpro.com/ and select the “Newsletter for Kids” link. Let me know what you think! Feedback just helps me get better or even encourages me to continue expanding!

Adult Education
As many of you know, I teach in Adult Education. We not only help folks earn their GEDs, we also help people who have been out of school a while and need to brush up on courses they had in high school. This can give you the confidence and skills you need to thrive in college or whatever else your path may be. If you or anyone you know could benefit from our services, just let me know! And, of course, it can remain completely confidential. You just might end up with Meteorologist Mark as a teacher! 🙂 If not me, then I can assure you any of our teachers would be a wonderful source of help and encouragement!
