An intense storm has prompted the NWS in Nashville to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for southwest Cumberland County. The storm is capable of producing damaging wind gusts. As I mentioned in the blog this morning, we have a little bit of spin in the atmosphere today, so a storm could rotate enough to produce a brief spin-up.
It is best for everyone in western Cumberland County to seek shelter until the storm has passed. The warning expires at 12:45 pm. The storm is moving northward. The official warning says the storm is moving northeast but it’s not. Normally, that’s the direction it would move but today’s storms are moving differently. This storm is moving north, to slightly northwest and will affect the western third of the county.
