Weather Update (1:40)

The storms we had earlier have weakened and now we’re just left with a lot of scattered showers. However, we remain in the marginal risk for severe storms for the rest of the evening. The marginal risk is the lowest of the five severe weather risk categories.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has just issued a special discussion that includes southern Middle Tennessee. That’s the area they circled in red on the weatherTAP map below. Those storms will move north. We’ll just have to see if any of them hold together to get up to here. The atmosphere is much more unstable down there, so we need to keep that in mind. Hopefully we’ll just stay cloudy and rainy the rest of the day.

The SPC noted that there is a 40% chance of them issuing a severe t-storm watch for southern Tennessee. They continue to monitor that situation.

I’ll keep an eye on things, too. I’ll be teaching this evening but if anything comes up I’ll jump on here. That’d make for a teachable moment, right? haha

You all take care.
