Rain quickly closing in

A band of rain is moving onto the plateau at this hour. The image below was taken at 2:30 p.m. The border of Cumberland and Fentress counties has been highlighted. As you can see, some of the rainfall is heavy. We’re not expecting severe weather but a rumble of thunder is possible. Gusty winds are also possible, especially in heavier showers. The bulk of this activity should be moving out by 7:00 pm. Skies should clear out by late tonight.

This front will cool us off by about 10 degrees by tomorrow. That will lead to highs Friday afternoon in the mid to upper 50s, which isn’t too bad. Another cold front will pass through Friday night and that one will drop highs Saturday into the lower 40s. That Friday night front may have a shower or two along it but that’s about it.
