Yet another winter storm threatens to bring more accumulating snowfall to the plateau on Thursday. Snow should begin developing around 9:00 am, per the latest short-term models. That snow will increase in coverage and intensity, likely peaking in the 11:00-1:00 timeframe. It is strongly advised that you not plan to travel once snow begins. Snow tapers off by sunset.
Temps will plummet behind this system, which will allow roads to worsen. Overnight lows Thursday will drop into the single digits. Make sure your elderly neighbors are ready for that cold, make sure your outdoor pets are ready for that cold, and make sure your pipes are ready for that cold. People, pets, and pipes.
If you must travel tomorrow night make sure your car is equipped with whatever you may need in case you have car trouble. With temps that cold, you could end up in a lot of trouble very quickly.
At this time, confidence is very high that widespread 2-4 inch snow amounts will fall across the plateau, with locally higher amounts certainly possible. Confidence is rather high in getting widespread 3-5 inch amounts. Those of you who end up in the heaviest snow bands will pick up around half a foot of snow. This snow reminds me a lot of this past one, only with a colder ground/roads.
Stay safe and try to enjoy the snow! This should be another pretty one, similar to the one we just had.
