Special Statement Concerning the Weekend

In this morning’s blog update I alluded to a potential wintry situation for the weekend. Models are continuing to struggle with the evolution of that system, but they are trending colder. There are still many questions about how much warm air will be pulled north, how much moisture will be available, and if/when cold air will meet up with moisture to cause wintry troubles. Much of this will ultimately be determined by the exact track of that area of low pressure.

I tell you all of this to make you aware that a winter storm may adversely affect our region from Friday night through Sunday. All precip types look possible at this time and precip may change forms over the course of the weekend. Keep all of this in mind when making plans for the weekend. I know some of you have a longer weekend, with the holiday on Monday for many of you, so I know that you may be planning to do something. Just keep in mind that the weather could throw a wrench in those plans.

Should snow accumulate on Sunday, that could affect travel on Monday, as well.

As with all winter systems, I’ll keep a very close eye on this situation and keep you posted between now and then.

For now, enjoy that beautiful sunshine!

  1. As always, thank you Mark. We are so fortunate to have you on the Plateau. Major weather teams in Knoxville/Nashville just don’t provide the in depth coverage like you do for us. We are truly blessed.

    1. You are very welcome, Susyn. It’s always my pleasure.
