10:30 a.m. Weather Update

The forecast remains on track, folks. A line of strong to severe storms will move quickly across Middle TN this afternoon and evening, arriving on the plateau between about 5:30 -7:00. The line will move swiftly through.

The main threat will be damaging straight-line winds, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The risk for damaging winds appears to be increasing a bit. There is a lot of wind energy and any strong storm that develops will be capable of pushing out winds of up to 70 mph.

It is unlikely, but any storm that develops ahead of the line would pose a higher risk for severe weather.

I would start being weather aware at 4:00 and remain so until the line pushes through. I will give the all-clear.

Winds this afternoon will become even gustier than they are now. Be prepared for sporadic power outages.

I have cancelled my kids class that was scheduled from 4:30-5:30.

You take care.
