This week’s newsletter focuses on the tornado outbreak in TN on February 21, 1993 (Cumberland County was hit too!). Then, the blizzard came just weeks later! What a wild ride that was! I talk all about how it all happened in this week’s letter.

Drought Data

The data cutoff for Drought Monitor maps is each Tuesday at 7 a.m. The maps, which are based on analysis of the data, are released each Thursday at 7:30 a.m. This week’s latest map is seen below. For much more drought info, please follow my link to https://meteorologistmark.com/drought-info/.

Saving our Hardwoods

Please help us work to save the hardwoods in the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area for present and future generations. Will you consider signing the petition to save our hardwoods from being harvested at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSflavN4JIaw4nN18fYF3-pw9GMYYo2-D5D5Di6kB0hF7uF1SQ/viewform.

An informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, at 6:00 pm at the Community Complex. Marvin Bullock from the White County Chamber of Commerce will give a very helpful presentation on how to make your voices heard. His work to save the Bridgestone-Firestone Wilderness area of White County has given him a wealth of information to share that we can apply to the work to stop clear-cutting on Catoosa. Representatives from the TWRA have also been invited via email and certified letter.

I’m working on a Facebook page dedicated to saving the Catoosa hardwoods. Stay tuned for that!
